Hello everyone,

At the special meeting of Kilkenny County Council held on the 31st of July
2015, Variation No. 1 of the Kilkenny City & Environs Development Plan
2014-2020 and the Masterplan for the Abbey Creative Quarter were both
approved in accordance with the recommendations contained in the Chief
Executive’s Reports. The approved Variation, approved Masterplan, Chief
Executive’s reports and public notices are all published online at:

Since the approval of the Variation and Masterplan, work has been underway
in preparing detailed plans for the Brewhouse building, the linear park and
further urban design in relation to the area north of the Central Access
Scheme and south of Green Street.

A Part 8 Public Consultation for the Brewhouse building is now underway.
Plans and particulars for the renovation of the Brewhouse building are on
public display for a 6 week period from Friday the 23rd of October. The
plans are published online (please see link below) and are available at the
Planning Department in County Hall and at Carnegie Library, John's
Quay. Members of the public are invited to make submissions or
observations with respect to the proposed development dealing with the
proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the
development will be carried out before Tuesday the 22nd of December 2015.

It is anticipated that detailed plans and particulars for the Linear Park
will be placed on public display in the coming weeks. An e-mail will be
circulated when the Part 8 Public Consultation commences.

In accordance with Section 4.3.11 of the Masterplan, further urban design
work is underway in relation to the area north of the Central Access
Scheme, south of Green Street and east of Vicar Street. A Part 8 for
housing in the area is anticipated in the new year.
